Homeowner Turns Tables on Serial Burglar with Power of Self-Defense
In an intense incident in St. Louis County, a homeowner demonstrated the importance of self-defense when a burglary went awry. This event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of being prepared in the face of potential danger, even in the sanctuary of one’s own home.
A call was made to local law enforcement around 4 a.m. on a Tuesday concerning a burglary in progress on the 2200 block of Empress Drive. The suspect had broken into the home and attempted to remove property by heaving it through a window. However, the tables turned swiftly when the homeowner shot the intruder.
“In your home, all you need is a reasonable fear that you might get hurt,” says local attorney Anders Walker, suggesting the homeowner was legally justified in his actions.
Following the gunshot, the suspect absconded from the scene, bypassing responding officers who were attempting to halt him and declare his impending arrest. Despite his best efforts to escape, with the help of a K-9 unit, police officers managed to apprehend the suspect near Chambers Road and Monarch Drive.
The suspect was rushed to the hospital and remained in critical condition that day.
Further deepening the suspect’s predicament, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Andre Farrar III, aged 27, with first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted burglary, and resisting arrest with a felony. His bail has been set at a substantial $200,000 cash-only bond.
Interestingly, earlier the same day, Farrar had reportedly attempted to gain unlawful entry into another local residence on the 10200 block of Pannell Drive. Farrar was also found to have prior burglary convictions in St. Louis, solidifying his reputation as a serial burglar.
Two residents, a man and woman, were inside the house when the burglary occurred. They were later escorted to the police station for questioning regarding their ordeal.
In a bid to piece together the full picture of the incident, investigators went door to door to inquire if any security cameras in the vicinity could provide additional evidence of the crime. The authorities have also encouraged anyone with relevant information to step forward, offering options to call directly or give an anonymous tip through CrimeStoppers.
So, whether it’s the wilderness or your hometown, this story serves as a potent reminder that a survivalist mindset is critical – readiness and a keen sense of awareness can make all the difference when faced with a threat.

The homeowner was justified in the action he has taken, I agree with him 100 percent!

Burglary is a violent crime. Burglars are deliberately violating the sanctity of the home. They should be prepared to be shot for their invasion before they undertake their crime.
