Grassroots Activism Defends Second Amendment Rights
In the face of relentless efforts to curtail the rights of gun owners throughout 2023, the Gun Owners of America (GOA) has remained steadfast. The organization has been a bulwark against the encroachments of the Biden Administration and fervent anti-gun advocates, standing firm in defense of the liberties of American citizens.
The GOA’s efforts have been met with considerable success. With the support of its members, the organization managed to generate over 85,000 comments in opposition to the ATF’s Universal Registration checks rule. This achievement surpassed their previous record by a staggering 20,000 comments.
“We took on the Swamp and successfully forced Congress to REMOVE the permanent Plastic Gun Ban from the National Defense Authorization Act,” the GOA proudly announced. The organization also managed to thwart a proposed “assault weapons” ban in the Senate, a victory that saw Senator Mike Lee citing the GOA during his address on the Senate floor.
In Oregon, the GOA celebrated a significant win. A judge granted a permanent injunction against Oregon Ballot Measure 114, which sought to impose fingerprinting, registration, and magazine bans.
The GOA’s efforts are not limited to legislative battles. The organization recently scored a partial, yet significant victory in New York. A federal circuit court upheld a federal injunction against certain aspects of New York’s unconstitutional concealed carry law. This law aimed to severely limit where gun owners could carry firearms in public and proposed the government monitoring of concealed carry permit applicants’ social media history.
“If New York’s law is allowed to stand, other anti-gun cities and states will quickly follow New York’s lead by making nearly all public places off limits to concealed carry,” the GOA warned. The organization is determined to secure a complete victory in this case.
However, the court’s failure to apply Bruen faithfully left the “good moral character” requirement in place for those seeking a concealed carry permit. As a result, the GOA plans to appeal the ruling to either the full Second Circuit Court of Appeals or the U.S. Supreme Court.
The GOA’s fight is not without its challenges. The organization faces opposition from a well-funded anti-gun “movement,” backed by wealthy globalist elites such as George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, and Bill Gates.
In contrast, the GOA’s campaign is powered by grassroots activists. “Our members may not be able to give millions of dollars – but what we lack in donation size, we more than make up with the sheer number of patriots who are willing to step up and defend the Second Amendment,” the GOA stated.
As the organization looks to the battles of 2024, it calls on its supporters to continue their financial backing. The GOA’s victories are powered by the generous contributions of its members, and their sustained support will be crucial in the fight to protect the Second Amendment in the coming year.
Our Thoughts
The Gun Owners of America’s (GOA) relentless efforts in 2023 are a testament to the power of grassroots activism. Faced with numerous legislative threats, the organization has shown that unity, perseverance, and a deep commitment to constitutional rights can make a significant difference.
Their success in generating over 85,000 comments against the ATF’s Universal Registration checks rule is particularly noteworthy. This record-breaking feat demonstrates the strength of the GOA’s membership and their collective voice.
The victories in Oregon and New York further highlight the organization’s resilience and strategic prowess. Despite facing well-funded opposition, the GOA is succeeding in its mission to protect Second Amendment rights, proving that dedication and belief can triumph over financial might.
However, the fight is far from over. The GOA’s call for continued financial support underscores the ongoing nature of this struggle. As survivalists, we understand the importance of preparation and resilience. We stand in solidarity with the GOA and applaud their efforts to safeguard our liberties.
